Meet Bailey...

Half of The Our Crazy RV Life Pup Crew

Bailey (the pup on the right with the biggest ears, lol) was born in December of 2017, and we adopted her from the SPCA in February of 2018. She was the cutest thing ever, and sassy!

The interesting thing about her is that she has always been shy around people other than Jeff and me. We even took her to puppy socialization classes to try to work on this, to no avail. Oh well. We love her just the way she is.

When we adopted her, they said she was a bulldog mix. We laughed at this, because she looked nothing like a bulldog. After researching dogs that looked like her, we decided that she was probably a Basenji mix, and our vet agreed with us. For one of my Christmas presents a couple of years ago, Jeff ordered a DNA test for her so we could finally know what she is. Wow! Were we ever surprised! The test came back conclusively that she's half German Shepherd, quarter Pitt Bull, and quarter American Bulldog. Absolutely no sign of Basenji anywhere! Interestingly, she does have behavior traits of all of the breeds she represents.

Meet Taz...

The Other Half of The Our Crazy RV Life Pup Crew

Taz (the pup on the left, also with big ears, lol) came to us in March of 2022. He was born on May 8, 2020, in Virginia, and is a Texas Heeler (half Australian Shepherd and half Blue Heeler).

I used to be a professional dog trainer, and I still train on occasion as we travel, as I was doing at the campground we were at in March of last year. His owner brought him by so I could help with some behavior issues they were having, and disclosed that they were looking for a new home for him.

Jeff and I had just been discussing within the last few days that we would be interested in finding a companion for Bailey, a pup that would be more outgoing with other people than she is, so that maybe she would come out of her shell a little. Also, I was looking for a smaller dog that would be happy to be my snuggle buddy, as Bailey is decidedly Jeff's dog.

So, we asked if they would be interested in letting us adopt him, and the rest is history!

Taz's name was originally "Seven" for extremely personal and sentimental reasons to his original family. He was still young, though, and we simply could not get used to calling him that because, for starters, it didn't match his personality as we saw him. We spoke to the family and explained to them that we would like to change his name to "Taz" because it definitively matched his spunky personality, but promised to always remember why he was first named "Seven". They understood, and we started calling him by his new name, which he was responding to without fail within a couple of days.

He lives up to his name, that's for sure! But, he can be extremely sweet and cuddly. He can be so gentle, yet he absolutely lives for fun times. He has never met a stranger he didn't like, except for once, when I'm glad he shied away from the person. He has been a good influence on Bailey. She has become more accepting of strangers in closer proximity without hiding behind us, although she still will not allow them to pet her.

Anyway, now you know a little bit about the Our Crazy RV Life Pup Crew!
